BOONE COUNTY GIS...

... began in 1990 when the Boone County Planning Commission began investigating the feasibility of establishing an enterprise GIS.

...formed its first partnership in 1992.

...commissioned a comprehensive GIS Implementation Plan in 1993 which guided the first several years of the partnership.

...completed it's first Strategic Plan in 2008. The strategic plan will be revisited every five years.

...currently has 32 member agencies and 10 data sharing agreements.

...currently has 4 staff members that are certified by the GIS Cerification Institute (GISCI) as GIS Professinal (GISP).

...produces a Streets and Points of Interest map that is available FREE of charge to the public.

...was one of the first county-level GIS organizations within the Commonwealth of Kentucky to publish an Internet Mapping Site on the Kentucky Geography Network.
