STAFF MEMBERS
Steven T. Gay, Director of GIS Services
Steve has ten years of GIS experience. He joined the staff at the Boone County Planning Commission in March 2004. He previously worked for Oakland County, Michigan for nine years, after which he spent a year working for the Kenton County Fiscal Court. Steve received his undergraduate degree in Environmental Health Science from Eastern Kentucky University in 1993 and a Masters of Science degree in Geography from Eastern Michigan University in 2002. Steve is a member of the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP) and the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA).
John N. Harney, GIS Application Analyst
John has eight years of GIS experience while working for the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Commission, the Northern Kentucky Area Development District, and now the Boone County Planning Commission (since April 2002). John holds a Bachelor's Degree in Geography from the Northern Kentucky University (2000 Graduate). John is responsible for application development, which includes: the planning commission and the Boone County GIS websites, stand-alone GIS applications, and the Interactive Mapping Services. John is a member of the Kentucky Assocation of Mapping Professionals (KAMP) and a member of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA).
Louis R. Hill, AICP, GIS Specialist - User Support
Louis has eight years of GIS experience, and is the newest member of the Boone County Planning Commission's GIS staff (November 2004). He has previously worked as a GIS Planner in Lake County (IL), and as a GIS Specialist in Muncie (IN). Louis holds a M.S. degree in Information and Communication Sciences from Ball State University, and a B.S. in Urban Planning from Ball State University. Louis is responsible for User Support and Special GIS Projects with our member agencies. Louis is a member of the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP) and is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
James S. Horton, GISP, GIS Data Specialist
James graduated in 1995 from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering Technology. James has been with the Boone County Planning Commission since August 1996 and has twelve years of GIS experience. James manages the data input and the data maintenance of several GIS layers. James is particularly knowledgeable with mapping parcels, street centerlines, and utility data. James is a member of the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP).
Shannon P. Spears, GIS Data Technician
Shannon has worked in the GIS field for nine years as a GIS Data Technician at the Boone County Planning Commission. Shannon is responsible for data input and data maintenance. She is also the point of contact for digital data requests and map requests. Shannon is a member of the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP).
