GIS STAFF MEMBERS

STEVEN T. GAY, GISP - DIRECTOR OF GIS SERVICES

Steve has over 13 years of GIS experience while working for Oakland County, Michigan and Kenton County, Kentucky before joining the Boone County Planning Commission in March 2004. Steve received his Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health Science from Eastern Kentucky University in 1993 and his Master's degree in Geography from Eastern Michigan University in 2002. Steve has been a member of the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP) since 2004 and was elected to serve on the 2009-2010 Executive Board as one of three Directors. Steve has also been certified by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) as a GIS Professional (GISP) since December 2008.

JOHN N. HARNEY, GISP - GIS APPLICATION ANALYST

John has over 10 years of GIS experience while working for the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Commission, the Northern Kentucky Area Development District, and the Boone County Planning Commission, where he has been since April 2002. John received his Bachelor's degree in Geography from Northern Kentucky University in 2000. John manages the application development, which includes: the planning commission and the GIS websites, the custom GIS applications, and the Interactive Mapping Services. John has been a member of the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP) since 2004 and has been certified by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) as a GIS Professional (GISP) since September 2008.

LOUIS R. HILL, AICP, GISP - GIS SPECIALIST - USER SUPPORT

Louis has over nine years of GIS experience while working for Lake County, Illinois and Muncie, Indiana before joining the Boone County Planning Commission in November 2004. Louis received his Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning from Ball State University in 2001 and his Master's degree in Information and Communication Sciences from Ball State University in 2002. Louis manages user support and special GIS projects for the member agencies. Louis has been a member of the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP) since 2005. Louis has been certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) since 2004 and has been certified by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) as a GIS Professional (GISP) since November 2008.

JAMES S. HORTON, GISP - GIS DATA SPECIALIST

James has over 13 years of GIS experience and has been with the Boone County Planning Commission since August 1996. James received his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Western Kentucky University in 1995. James manages the data input and the data maintenance of several GIS layers. James is particularly knowledgeable with mapping parcels, street centerlines, and utility data. James also manages special GIS projects for the member agencies. James has been a member of the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP) since 2004 and has been certified by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) as a GIS Professional (GISP) since April 2008.

SHANNON P. SPEARS - GIS DATA TECHNICIAN

Shannon has over 11 years of GIS experience and has been with the Boone County Planning Commission since August 1998. Shannon is responsible for data input and data maintenance. She is also the point of contact for digital data requests and map requests. Shannon has been a member of the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP) since 2004.
